Our Squadron
Our Squadron trains on Thursday evenings, offering Cadets hands-on opportunities to apply what they learn. Through these activities, Cadets build responsibility, teamwork, leadership abilities, and a variety of skills that benefit them throughout their lives.
Cadets can also join optional training during the week in areas such as drill, marksmanship, band, and aviation.
Select Cadets may attend Summer Training Centres. First-year Cadets can participate in a two-week General Training Course, while returning Cadets become eligible for advanced three- and six-week specialty courses that expand on their Squadron training.
Many of our former Cadets have gone on to successful careers—both in the Canadian Armed Forces and in the civilian sector. The discipline, leadership, and instructional skills developed in the program often become valuable assets in their future professions.
How much does it cost to join?
Many families are surprised to learn that the Air Cadet Program is completely free. Costs people often expect—such as registration, annual fees, uniforms, training materials, summer courses, transportation, lodging, and meals—are all provided at no cost to the cadet.
This is made possible through a partnership between the Canadian Armed Forces and the Air Cadet League of Canada, who work together to fund and support the program.
While the program itself is free, cadets are expected to participate in fundraising activities organized by our Sponsoring Committee. These efforts help support our training facilities and certain optional activities offered throughout the year.
What do cadets learn?
Cadets take part in a wide range of exciting and challenging training throughout the year. These subjects help build confidence, discipline, teamwork, and real-world skills that stay with them for life:
Citizenship – Understanding community involvement and civic responsibility.
Leadership – Developing communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills.
Aviation – Learning the fundamentals of aircraft, flight principles, and the world of aviation.
Aerospace – Exploring space science, technology, and the future of aerospace innovation.
Navigation – Gaining skills in map reading, direction finding, and situational awareness.
Drill – Building discipline, precision, and teamwork through ceremonial marching.
Physical Fitness – Promoting health, endurance, and an active lifestyle.
Aircrew Survival – Learning wilderness survival techniques and safety practices.
Marksmanship – Developing safe firearm handling, focus, and accuracy.
Together, these experiences prepare cadets for success—whether they choose a future in the military, aviation, or any other path they pursue.
